Welcome »

Being very concerned about the way we humans treat our home planet and pollute our environment I wanted to share some information and links.

I hope that you, with the links and ideas on this website, will find it easy to live a little bit less wasteful, a little bit more aware, and a little bit more sustainable – in my family we are trying hard to live up to this ourselves!

I Please visit our Sustainable gift tips (link to the right) where we put up a lot of ideas for gifts that are gentle on our resources. The list is successively updated when friends share their tips.

I just saw the movie "Sicko". I will not review it here, don't get me going, but I hope you will see it too. And remember to vote whenever you can.

July-August 2007

This spring and summer I have read two fantastic books about growing your own food! I was so inspired and is now tending proudly to our freak pumpkin patch, or ripening tomatoes, growing basil and blooming Bhutanese hot pepper plants.
Barbara Kingsolver: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. (2007, Harper Collins)
Joan Gussow: This Organic Life. Confessions of a suburban homesteader. (2001, Chelsea Green Publishing)

A friend of mine turned me on to The Organic Consumers Association (OCA), an online and grassroots non-profit public interest organization campaigning for health, justice, and sustainability. The OCA deals with crucial issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, children's health, corporate accountability, Fair Trade, environmental sustainability and other key topics. The OCA has an online newsletter called Organic Bytes (read more and subscribe here).

I have  f i n a l l y  started to add my favorite links to this site. I hope they will be informative and help you in the quest for a more sustainable life.

Enjoy your summer!
